Care
1. Avoid using any household cleaner that turns your water white or milky in color. These are harmful to our furbabies. Also check the house plants you have around that little teeth can chew on. There are a few sources out there to double check what can be harmful to your little furkids. It is definitely worth your time to research.
3. The better you feed them the more healthy they will stay. Highlanders are proving to be a hearty breed with little to no health issue. But staying proactive about what you are putting into their meals has the same affect it has on humans eating healthier.
4. Due to the varied sizes between 12-28 lbs depending on sex, breeding, and eating habits. It is recommended to use a large litter box. Such as an 18 gallon storage tote with a hole cut in the side. I have seen many cute ideas for these on Pinterest also.
5. A little bit about Highlanders curled ears. Due to the cartilage that makes them curl and hard, the ears tend to drain differently than your normal cat, which can cause a lot of wax build up inside your kitties ears. It's important to clean them regularly to avoid infections.
6. Please do not declaw your babies! All of our babies will be accustomed to getting their nails trimmed. If you choose not to trim them, there are nail caps that come in many different colors and usually last 3 weeks or more to deter them from scratching up your furniture. The cheapest place to find nail caps is ebay.
7. If you ever have any concerns or questions about your Highlander there are sources and people to help you. Nothing is ever too silly to ask!
